Before the exhibitions, openings and interviews that would take me to southern France, my European summer began with a memorable visit to one of Ibiza’s most remarkable private homes.
On 3 July 2026, I had the privilege of visiting Brazilian-born, London-based artist Olivier Mourão at his residence on the island. More than simply welcoming me into his home, Olivier generously shared the stories behind a lifetime of collecting, creating and living with art.
Some houses impress through architecture alone. Olivier Mourão’s home leaves a lasting impression because it reveals the personality of its owner. Every room reflects decades of curiosity, travel and artistic vision, where paintings, sculpture, antiques and contemporary works coexist naturally rather than as decoration.
Walking through the residence feels less like touring a private home and more like entering an evolving cabinet of curiosities. Every object has a story, every room a new perspective, making the house itself an extension of the artist’s imagination.
